This project exemplifies solutions to tight sites. Because of its site limitations, it took a diverse set of units and user groups to organize the building and site. It is both an addition to, and a renovation of, an existing Readiness Center.
The program includes office space, classrooms, kitchen and dining, an Iowa Communications Network Room, and storage space. Construction and renovation of the building was phased, so the building could remain occupied during construction. The building and site were both designed in accordance with the Department of Defense UFC 4-014 Anti-Terrorism Standards, which add to the complexity of the project.
